I hope you realize that's a non-sequitor. The hypothesis was people only care about the iPad - not tablets. Which is laughable because a significant proportion of the market cares about non-iPad tablet.

What does profit have to do with what people care about?



Obviously, that people care more about iPads as they are willing to pay a premium for them.


One of the keys of the iPads success is that it has been among the lowest priced tablets. Your point doesn't hold.

Apple makes enormous profits because of volume and a very, very refined process.
